Temple & Pagoda Etiquette

When visiting the temples or a pagoda, it’s important you respect the religious rules etiquettes.  There is a difference in visiting a temple and visiting a pagoda. What is not different is that in both situations you should dress appropriate and use your common sence. Read all the important rules and regulations in this article.

Tips & Trics

Bring enough water, suncreme and wear a hat when you visit the temples. Especially during the high season it will be very hot between 11 am and 17:00 pm. Consider to use the hottest time of the day to travel between temples and eat your lunch. 


Many visitors hire a tuktuk driver who can also act as a guide. This will cost you between $20 – $30. If you want to experience Angkor Wat by yourself, the cheapest way to get to Angkor Wat is to rent a bicycle for $2- $4 a day or use PassApp or Grab. If you book a tour, transportation will be included in the tour. Keep in mind that tourists are NOT allowed to drive a motorbike without a licence.

About Your Angkor Pass

The only place where you can buy the Angkor Pass is at the official Angkor Pass Ticket Counters. They ar located on the way to Angkor Wat and open between 5 am and 7:30 pm. You need one photo for the Angkor Pass and it’s advisable you get your pass one day before you start you visit to the different temples. Prices for the Angkor Pass are: 1 day ($37), three days ($62) or 7 days ($72).
